Stroke is one of the chronic dehydration symptoms.
Dehydration causes strokes or allows brain blockage to develop into a full blown stroke.
Luckily, “dehydration stroke” is preventable. Studies show it can even be reversed one hour into stroke process.
Learn how to prevent stroke & how to block process if stroke has started.
How to prevent stroke
Other pages on this site have discussed how dehydration can lead to heart problems, obesity, high blood pressure, thickening of blood & many other disorders that place sufferer at risk for stroke.
Simply remaining hydrated reduces the risk of stroke. Click on navigation bar “How much water” for more info. Briefly, drink at least 10 - 12 glasses of water, preferably on an empty stomach, spaced out throughout the day.
Stopping dehydration stroke in its tracks
Surprisingly, even if a stroke has started, intravenous fluids, given within the hour, can lessen damage or even produce significant recovery .
Animal studies show intravenous fluids given within one hour of blocking main artery reduces effects of blockage.
Extra water helps open surrounding capillaries even if the main artery is blocked & prevents expansion of clot. This intervention could be as effective as any emergency technique offered at leading hospitals.
So, if you are at risk for stroke, make sure to drink lots of water. If you are in the presence of someone experiencing stroke symptoms, provide lots of water on the way to the ER.
