Effects of Chlorinated Water

Protect Yourself From the Deadly Effects Of Chlorine

We are drinking some chlorine when we drink unfiltered water and we shower in sometimes highly chlorinated water.Yes, there is just a little chlorine in our water but most discerning noses can smell it, our hair and skin complain about it.

There is more chlorine in our public water system than just a miniscule amount.

Chlorine Is Good For Us

Honest. Chlorine is added to our water supply because it kills germs and bacteria that would lead to epidemics if left unchecked. For example, it kills of typhoid and cholera.

Actually that's what chlorine does. It kills living things. That's all it does and it does it very well.

History of Chlorinated Water

Chlorine was first added to the water supply in Chicago in 1908. It successfully killed off many water-borne diseases.

Now, all systems have at least some chlorine in them. They have to or we might keel over from drinking a glass of water.

The other good thing about chlorine is that it is cheap. Dirt cheap. Cheap and effective. No wonder the government uses it.

Problem With Chlorine

What's good about chlorine is also what's bad about chlorine.

Remember we said that chlorine has no purpose other than kill living stuff? (We term this, "disinfecting.")

Well when we drink it, shower in it, swim in it, it kills some part of us. Maybe it kills off some protecter cells. Maybe it just tires them out. No one knows for sure but it does something that we don't want it to.

Do you remember what it used to do to your gold fish? You know better now, huh? Let the water sit for, oh a few hours to a few days and presto the chlorine is gone.

What's especially alarming about chlorine is that in water, it starts to form into substances that scientists believemay lead to cancer.

The American Journal of Public Health found a 15 - 35% increase in cancers for people who consumed chlorine water. The National ResourceDefense Council notes that chlorine linked to 30 cases of rectal cancers per day. The National cancer Institute estimatescancer risks for users of chlorinated water to be 93% higher than nonusers. There has also been a strong connection betweenbreast cancer and chlorine.

In addition to the link between chlorine and cancer, chlorine has also been linked to heart disease, asthma and birth defects.

Chlorine in Shower and Bath water

If that's not enough, chlorine in our bath or shower water play havoc on our hair and skin. It makes both dry and listless. It may lead to a more aged appearance.

Many chlorine effects are introduced when we bath or shower. That is because the skin absorbs the water especially when the water is warm and our pores open to welcome it in. We also breathe in the water vapor so it goes straight into our lungs.

In fact, the American Journal of Public Health found that 2/3 of the harmful effects of chlorine in water are due to washing inchlorinated water.

Take Action! It's Easy.

The tragedy here is that the effects of chlorine in our water supply are easy to reduce.

Read this part carefully and please make the appropriate changes.

If you get nothing else from this website, we hope you are compelled to do two things from now on.

1)Drink more water. Just a few more glasses of water. Have one or two first thing in the morning.

2)Eliminate as much of the chlorine that is in your water supply as you possibly can.

It really is easy

For your drinking water, let the water stand, for at least a day. Then you could refrigerate it and voila.

When you shower, try to use water that is a little cooler than you might think is ideal. This way, your pores are not sowelcoming to the chlorine water and there isn't as much vapor for you to breathe in.

Another solution to chlorinated water is to get yourself a water filter. Ideally a filter for tap water and shower/bath water. Most filters eliminate treat chlorinated water and you can find yourself good ones for under $100.
