Dehydration & hemorrhoids
Dehydration and hemorrhoids are definitely linked. Read on for how and how to avoid.
The role of dehydration in hemorrhoids is simple. Hemorrhoids is chiefly caused by straining and straining is the result of constipation. Straining forces the blood into the veins in the anal area. That results in the characteristic bulges of hemorrhoids. Getting back to constipation, when refuse enterss the intestine, before elimination, there must be enough water available to lubricate & speed its evacuation. If you are dehydrated, body systems with high priority sift water away from the intestines. For example, if the brain or blood start getting dehydrated, they sap the available water. That makes stools hard and delays their passage. These hardened stools are eventually eliminated but with discomfort and worst yet, with much strain. So, remember to drink lots of water, preferably on an empty stomach.
