Another effect of dehydration
Skin Acne

Learn about the link between dehydration skin acne, cause of cystic acne, acne prevention tips, acne treatment tip.

You might be able to cure face acne with water.

Read on to learn why and how.

Definition of acne

An inflammatory condition of the sebaceous glands and hair follicles. Symptoms may include blackheads, whiteheads, nodules, and in severe cases cysts and scarring.

For more on effect and cause of cystic acne, read on.

Cause of cystic acne

Or, more accurately, causes of cystic acne or other less serious forms, are not well known.

Some of the more likely reasons including the connection between skin dehydration acne follow.

1)Hormones increase, often during puberty, causing the sebaceous glands (located in the skin) to release an oily substance called sebum. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can do the same.

2)Heredity or genetics. Can be inherited from parents. Studies show that many acne sufferers have a family history of it.

3)Drugs like androgens and lithium can cause acne. They may contribute to acne because their side effects include dehydration.

4)Cosmetics that contain oil can clog follicles producing a plug like in cystic acne.

5)Aggravators can make acne worse such as rubbing the skin, pollution, high humidity, squeezing or picking at blemishes and hard scrubbing of the skin.

6)Dehydration: See below.

Acne prevention tips

Avoiding dehydration is one of the acne prevention tips 1)Use an astringent to remove the excess oil. Witch hazel is good.

2)Use only oil-free moisturizers.

3)Apply face mask once a week. Honey can be an effective mask as it is a disinfectant and has healing properties. Ideally, use a raw organic honey mask for best results.

4)Wash your face at least twice a day with a soap that has as few chemicals as possible.

5)Cut hair short and shampoo frequently. Long, oily hair often slaps the forehead and face leaving it’s oil on the face.

6)Assure you have enough vitamins through diet and a good daily multivitamin. Eat at least 5 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables

7)Remove all makeup when going to bed.

8)Drink lots of water. See below for more on the relationship between dehydration skin acne.)

9)Do not pop or squeeze pimples. It can also make acne scars more likely and more visible.

10)Wash or change your pillowcase frequently.

11)Zinc is antibacterial. Eat zinc based foods (ex. seeds) and look for lotions containing zinc.

12)Exercise helps blood circulate remove toxins decreasing a major cause of cystic acne.

13)Stress may cause acne because it encourages the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum. Find a way to relax - games, yoga, tv, whatever.

Acne treatment tip

The best acne treatment tip? Avoid dehydration. All of the above prevention tips can be helpful in treating acne.

1)Exercise can help normalize hormone levels and stress releasing chemicals. Be sure to wash properly after exercise.

2)Cosmetics: Use the purest, simplest cosmetics possible. Cut back on cosmetics. Wash off completely before going to sleep.

3)Diet: Healthy diet consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables is very helpful in combating the effects of acne and can reduce its active stage.

4)Stimulating the skin gently can help. Ex: Shaving is a mild skin stimulant. Washing with a gently abrasive wash cloth can also rid the skin of toxins, dead cells and surface oils.

5)Of course, drink more pure filtered water to avoid problems associated with dehydration skin acne.

Water

How you use water can determine whether you develop acne, how long its active phase lasts and its scarring effects.

*Your skin needs water, lots of water to help it get rid of toxins, chemicals, wastes & oils. If you don’t drink enough water, pores may clog and that can be a major cause of cystic acne.

If your acne is in the active phase, you should aim to drink 2/3 of your body weight in ounces of water per day. Ex. If you weigh 100 lbs, aim for 67 ounces of water per day, 100 ounces if you weigh 150 lbs.

To make sure that water has a flushing effect, drink filtered water so that you are not ingesting more chemicals from the increased water intake.

*Use a shower water filter to eliminate chemicals from being poured onto your skin and being absorbed by your open pores. Using a high quality shower water filter also helps you avoid experiencing dehydration skin acne.
