Drinking Water and Weight Loss Go Together Naturally

Woman checking if drinking water and weight loss are a reality.
Drinking water and weight loss are connected in ways that are too obvious to mention here. For example, exercising is one of the main ways to lose weight. But you have to drink lots of water, in whatever form, to be able to exercise.Obvious, huh?

Remember, to drink a glass or two of water a half hour before your workout. This will help your endurance and performance. Even just a little dehydration leads to tiredness. To take full advantage of the relationship between drinking water and weight loss try to drink during a workout and afterward..

But there are less obvious reasons for why drinking water and weight loss are connected.

1)It makes you feel full. That seems obvious but how many dieters do you think try that? See how many mashed potatoes you can scarf down when you start a meal with a tall glass of water. Also try drinking a glass of water right before you plan on bingeing on that German Chocolate cake. (Am I telling you too much about myself?) You might settle for a smaller slice or maybe even let it get stale in the refrigerator.

2)Drinking water and weight loss, occur because water signals to our body to release water through sweating or urinating. You see, your body starts to trust that you have enough sense to keep it hydrated and so it doesn't retain water. This is a good thing.

3)Digestion is also made easier when you have enough water in your body. From entry to exit, it takes water to help our bodies digest and eliminate food and liquid waste. Obviously constipation can be eased by drinking water. Speeding the processing of your food can lead to 4 - 10 pounds of weight loss in just a few weeks.

4)Drinking water allows your body to start and complete many processes. This means that your body is working harder even while at rest, that is it increases your metabolism. Increasing your metabolism is the best way to lose weight and drinking water is one way to do this. (Other ways include gaining muscle and exercising.)

5)Your liver is responsible for converting fat to energy. Well guess what happens when your liver does not have enough water to turn fat into energy? Right, it turns fat into a 44" waist size.

6)There is also a technical reason for why drinking water, especially before and during meals, could lead to weight loss.Researchers know that high carbohydrate foods tell our bodies to release insulin. Nothing wrong there except a side effectof this insulin release is that your body then holds on to its fat forcing the body to use those carbs for energy. Ideally, you want your body to use fat for energy but the insulin makes that impossible. Drinking water, especially with a high fiber meal, decreases the amount of insulin your body releases.

So that's another reason to drink water before meals if you want to lose weight. In fact, if you are overweight and you don't mind drinking a lot of water, try this. Start drinking a quart of water a half hour before your three meals. Finishthe quart over the 30 minutes and then have your meal. See what that does to your weight.

Even if you do not do this, if you are overweight make sure to add water to your 8 recommended glasses per day. Try drinking one extra glass of water for every 20 pounds you are over your ideal weight. So, if your ideal weight is 140pounds and you weigh 180 you should be drinking 8 plus 2 glasses of water per day for a total of 10 glasses.

It's amazing that 80% of us still walk around in a constant state of dehydration trying all kinds of tricks to lose weight and ignoring the connection between drinking water and weight loss.

The connection between drinking water and exercise is controversial only because we don't look at the obvious reasons for why drinking water and weight loss go together like hand in glove.
