Prilosec Dehydration

Serious and preventable

Prevent Prilosec dehydration and learn how to manage ulcers, heartburn and acid reflux, naturally.

Prilosec dehydration is serious, preventable.

Many patients have sought relief from gastric problems through the "little purple pill."

Generically named, omeprazole, Prilosec is used to treat ulcer, heartburn and acid reflux.

Along with the relief it provides to some patients, it may also lead to diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache and abdominal pains.

This cluster of side effects very likely results in, or worsens dehydration. This is why Prilosec dehydration has become a cause of concern for thousands of Prilosec users.

Click here for recommendations on how much water to drink to avoid many problems including Prilosec dehydration.

Heartburn and dehydration

However, drinking enough water is not only the treatment for all drugs and medications dehydration, including Prilosec, it may also treat the heartburn that led to being prescribed Prilosec.

Heartburn is a body's physical call for water. If this call is not obeyed, heartburn will develop into ulcer.

Having adequate fluid in the stomach will water down acids and prevent heartburn pain.

When dehydration gets a little worse, the acid in the stomach cannot go into the intestines nor can it remain in the stomach much longer.

So some of it wells up, especially if you are lying down. That results in the heartburn experienced near and above the heart.

Ulcers and dehydration

The stomach creates a layer of mucus that protects it against its acidic digestive juices.

This mucus is 98% water and 2% sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). The bicarbonate works with the mucus to neutralize the acids.

Without this layering you would be vulnerable to ulcers which are like holes in the stomach. A very serious health problem.

In chronic dehydration, the stomach does not have enough liquid to produce this mucus.

How to manage Prilosec dehydration and gastric problems

Many people turn to antacids for relief. However that can be dangerous as some antacids contain aluminum. Aluminum has been associated with many brain disorders including Alzheimer's.

Also, antacids just neutralize acids. They do not help stomach produce the protective mucus.

To improve gastric problems drink 2 glasses of water 30 minutes before meals. Just drink a little during meals becuase too much water may interfere with digestion.

Again, click on navigation bar, "How much water?" for recommendations on how to assure you are hydrated.

If you feel heartburn coming on, drink 2 glasses of water. This may not work the first time you try it but should relieve pains as you hydrate in a few days.

If condition does not improve within a week, there may be another reason for your condition. Consult with medical specialist.

In the event of acute pains caused by ulcers drink one quart of water over about an hour to get relief.
