The following testimonials concern the connection between dehydration & high blood pressure.
Healthy Water contains a page on dehydration as being a cause & effect of high blood pressure. Conversely, hypertension can be a cause & effect of dehydration.
Before the selected testimonials a few words on how/why dehydration & high blood pressure are linked.
The management & availability of water is the number one factor in the development of high blood pressure. Why?
Our blood vessels, arteries and veins must be filled with blood at all times. When blood volume decreases because water is lacking & is then drawn from the blood and redirected to vital organs, the body compensates.
To keep blood vessels full, the blood vessels have to contract. If they didn't contract, the empty parts may become filled with gas pockets, a very dangerous condition.
So this contraction is a healthy defensive maneuver. But what the body gains in one respect it loses in another. That's because this contraction causes increased tension in the vessels. This contraction or increased tension is what shows up as high blood pressure, temporary or chronic.
The tightening of vessels also occurs to squeeze fluids, like the blood, into vital body parts and cells like the brain cells. If not those vital parts would start to shut down.
This defensive maneuver can become chronic, established and possibly permanent and irreversible. When this occurs, high blood pressure becomes chronic and continued medical treatment of the condition becomes necessary.
So, the best high blood pressure remedy. Water. Lots of water. To boost our all natural high blood pressure remedy, add a little sea salt to the water. Yes, salt.
Testimonials on dehydration - hypertension link
Some testimonials on dehydration & hypertension as symptoms of dehydration may have been edited for readability. Note that my comments on the testimonials are in italics.
Also note that testimonials that were positive to the books & strategy were obviously selected but frankly there aren’t many testimonials of readers who increased hydration levels who had negative reactions.
Further note that there are numerous testimonials but we simply chose some representative ones.
1) It works, June 29, 2000, Ratchford (Dumfires, Va United States)
This review is from: Your Body's Many Cries for Water (Paperback)
My systolic blood pressure dropped 30 points and my diastolic dropped 20 points in a week by just drinking a gallon of water a day and taking a 30 minute walk. I found the book fascinating. It was a little technical so I will have to re-read some places. But the logic was sound and easily followed.
I thought there was too much time spend over discussions concerning the rejection of the medical community of the concept. I had come to the conclusion that the medical community and the drug community may not have my best interest at heart years ago, so I would have preferred the space to be more focused on techniques and daily management approaches.
But let there be no doubt, this was a book that has changed my life and I am sending a copy to my friends in need. Buy it. (ratchfom@aol.com)
Admittedly, Dr. Batmanghelidj does spend a lot of time on the medical community’s response to him but it is understandable that some of his feelings would spill out into his writings. Besides, he’s right. Also some of Dr. Batmanghelidj’s can get technical. This website aims at presenting views on dehydration & health in a substantial but no technical way.
2) This Book Worked For Me, September 17, 1999, Michael Foudy (Falls Church, VA USA)
This review is from: Your Body's Many Cries for Water (Paperback) I have long suffered from borderline hypertension. After reading this book and following Dr. Batman's advice, my condition corrected itself within six weeks. The advice is simple: to drink one ounce of water for every two pounds of body weight plus one and one half additional ounces of water for every ounce of beverage I consume containing caffeine, carbonation or alcohol. Do this every day.
But more important than the relief of my condition, I began to notice a change of lifestyle. I drink much less coffee and less alcohol. I've practically eliminated carbonated beverages. And, I feel much better. I've also lost weight.
Although I've given you the bottom line, you should read the entire book to appreciate how it applies to specific conditions from which you and your loved ones may suffer. Dr. Batman addresses how water can help everything from asthma to ulcers. You will be amazed.
The best part of this book is its plain spoken advocacy of common sense. The Author doesn't sell bottled water. He isn't promoting a spa. He doesn't conduct seminars. He is a man with a simple message. Your body needs water, drink it!
I love to read and read voraciously. This may prove to be the most important book I've ever read. Buy it, read it and follow Dr. Batman's advice. You won't be sorry.
Mr. Foudy does note correctly that conditions not related to central problem can be improved or prevented. Remember, the ill effects of dehydration & the benefits of healthy hydration are systemic. Everything is effected.
3) Life-changing, September 4, 2007, Marty Dee "Marty" (Los Angeles)
The information in this book literally changed my life. For the last six months, up until two weeks ago, I thought I was dying. Blood-pressure through the roof. Dizzy spells. Exhausted. Severe headaches.
Somehow, I found this book and immediately started applying the principles. Now, after two weeks, my blood-pressure, while not totally in a normal range, is almost there. I've got my energy back. No more headaches. No more dizzy spells.
These kinds of testimonials are repeated over an over again.
