First, a brief explanation of how/why dehydration effects headache & migraine formation.

The brain is lord of organs. As lord, when it starts to feel deprived of water or when it starts to feel overheated, it commands extra fluid, in the form of blood to itself.

When this occurs, the arteries leading up to the brain, those closest to it, start expanding with the extra blood. That would be the arteries in the temple and face region.

This is how headaches & migraines can begin. As blood rushes to the brain you start feeling that familiar throbbing sensation in the temples and your face becomes flushed with blood.

Individual factors determine severity, duration & type of headache.

This review is from: Your Body's Many Cries for Water (Paperback) My mother gave me a copy of this book in 2000. (But I have been drinking lots of extra water since 1997 when someone else advised me of it's health benefits). I consider this one of the most valuable books I own.

Since I started drinking lots of water 5 years ago, I have noticed that I almost NEVER get sick any more. And when I do get sick, it doesn't hang around very long and it isn't severe. That's good enough evidence for me.

Oh yeah, My sister has Dr Batmanghelidj's book too, and she prevents most of her migraines by drinking lots of water (she used to get migraines LOTS more often). Now, when she does get an occasional migraine, she drinks a couple glasses of water, and the migraine almost always goes away quickly.

That's two out of two that I know of that are seeing clear results with the advice of this book.
