The ulcer dehydration link was the phenomenon that led Dr. Batmanghelidj to realize the vital role that water has on disease prevention & treatment.
Briefly, Batmanghelidj, having no medication for a prison patient suffering from severe gastric ulcers, simply prescribed 2 glasses of water.
The ulcer was instantly relieved & further hydration appeared to be the best treatment for ulcers.

These symptoms need immediate attention since they could lead to serious complications.
Ulcer causes
*The cause of most ulcers may the corkscrew-shaped bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). However, the bacterium is usually present, presenting few problems for most people. What causes the bacterium to become problematic isn’t clear.
*Regular use of pain relievers, irritating stomach lining
*Smoking
*Stress, producing too acidic an environ
*Alcohol, producing too much acidity
*Dehydration
The stomach creates a layer of mucus that protects it against its acidic digestive juices. This mucus is 98% water and 2% sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). The bicarbonate works with the mucus to neutralize the acids.
Without this layering you would be vulnerable to ulcers which are like holes in the stomach. A very serious health problem.
In chronic dehydration, the stomach does not have enough liquid to produce this mucus.
The presence of bacterium becomes causal to ulcer if there is not enough mucous to protect the stomach lining.
Treatment for ulcers
To improve gastric problems drink 2 glasses of water 30 minutes before meals. Just drink a little during meals because too much water may interfere with digestion.
Again, click on navigation bar, "How much water" for recommendations on how to assure you are hydrated. If you feel stomach burn, drink 2 glasses of water. This may not work the first time you try it but should relieve pains as you hydrate in a few days.
If condition does not improve within a week, there may be another reason for your condition apart from ulcer dehydration cause. Consult with medical specialist.
In the event of acute pains caused by ulcers drink one quart of water over about an hour to get relief.
Please consult medical personnel when trying this approach.
Note that it may take weeks for dehydration to be corrected. Be sure to drink at least 10 glasses of water per day.
